Hi! I’m Shannon. I've been in the industry for over half of my life! I still love doing hair as much as I did when I entered beauty school at 17. I've seen trends come and go and have enjoyed adapting to them. You can expect me to be on time, reply promptly, and be open to hearing your feedback.

With extensions becoming a normal part of the world these days, I’m always surprised when a new client tells me that their extension hair was never colored or refreshed by their last stylist.⁣

There have only been two instances in my entire career where the extension wefts were a truly perfect match to the client and no adjusting needed to be done. But even then, those same wefts needed to be refreshed and colored eventually to reset them back to their original shade.⁣ The color blend should be continued to be checked in on throughout your time wearing them.

My methodology mimics your natural hair’s 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭. Not to force something that would never be there.⁣

For this guest she was wanting a lower maintenance color that grew out well (she was quite dark and had a harsh line of regrowth which made any minuscule amount of gray hair stand out way more than it should have) so we lightened her to create less contrast between her existing color and where her new growth would come in and we also sprinkled fine highlights in to add dimension and camouflage those few grays (which appear much less of a problem compared to the harsh line of the previous color!) We also added two beaded rows of hand-tied weft extensions for thickness in a length that is flattering and believable. ⁣

𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽⁣
Brush well beforehand. Release tangles from the ends first, working your way up. Avoid the bonds and tension (pulling)⁣. Feel with your fingers that your bonds are nicely separated ⁣
⁣
𝗪𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴⁣
You may need to wash a couple of times before the shampoo will suds up, especially if it’s been several days since washing or if you have a lot of product in your hair.⁣
⁣
💬Avoid scrunching/rubbing/mushing your hair all around⁣
⁣
🙃 Don’t wash your hair upside down⁣
⁣
Use little “micro movements” as you wash, only let your fingers scrub back & forth about an inch, then lift up and move to a new spot ⁣
⁣
𝗥𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 ⁣
Split your hair vertically in a few places as you rinse so no residue is left⁣
⁣
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴⁣
Apply from ponytail down first. Then apply remaining product to the ends of your shorter layers.⁣
⁣
𝗪𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴⁣
Place the towel under your hair & around your shoulders like a cape, then wrap each side over your head Instead of flipping upside down⁣
⁣
𝗗𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴⁣
Apply leave in conditioner & heat protectant ⁣
⁣
If air drying curls, I love a mouse for fine hair & a gel-cream for coarser hair. Apply when your hair is still quite wet & use your hands to finger comb (if you brushed well before washing, you are probably good to just finger comb, but use your discretion! Use “book hands” to smooth everything & encourage curl clumping. ⁣
⁣
Gently scrunch into place & let air dry or use a diffuser (medium heat..we don’t want to melt your bonds 😆) Hover the diffuser over the lengths without bouncing..we don’t want to disturb the curls & create frizz. Once dry, soften the crunchiness with a serum!⁣
⁣
For blowdrying smooth, dry in a downward airflow direction 90% & use a brush at the very end to smooth things out. Careful not to hit your bonds with high heat (cough cough Dyson air wrap)⁣
⁣
𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴⁣
Split your hair down the middle & take sections from the back working your way forward. Use your shoulder to separate the curled hair from the uncurled hair. Avoid tension!⁣
⁣
💬 As you wind up your iron, be sure not to hit your bonds!⁣

𝗬𝗼𝘂’𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗱𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿. 𝗜𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗲𝗳𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗸-𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂?⁣

Do you have lower density (you can see your scalp more easily through your hair) baby fine strands, or naturally curly hair? If so, then 𝗸-𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 are the best pick! ⁣

You’re going to want to pick and play with your head. That’s normal! 😆 In fact, it’s good to get a feel for your bonds and get comfortable with them. ⁣
⁣
𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆: ⁣
Be mindful that they don’t get caught under a heavy purse on your shoulder..sunglasses on your head..pulling them out from the coat you just put on..etc! You’ll learn to notice your hair a little more than before!⁣
⁣
𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Remember your 𝗔𝗕𝗖’𝘀!⁣
⁣
𝗔- 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘶𝘮⁣
⁣
𝗕- 𝘉𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘭𝘺 ⁣
(Hold everything in a low pony with your hand gripping tightly and brush gently releasing tangles at the very ends and working your way up. Then tip gently from side to side and slowly and gently release any mid-length tangles with your brush. Try not to brush on the actual bonds themselves! Then with your fingers, feel around at your bonds to make sure none are clumping together. If they are, just gently pull them apart! I like a brush with metal pins and no balls on the ends)⁣
⁣
𝗖- 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯⁣
Contain in a low braid or ponytail (I like to do a low pony and then simply add another scrunchie halfway down)⁣
⁣
𝗦- 𝘚𝘪𝘭𝘬 𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯⁣
Try to keep your scrunchies and pillow cases slippery. Cotton and other materials really do create too much friction and are drying to your hair.⁣
⁣
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: ⁣
Simply brush lightly and that’s it! You can add a little dry shampoo to just your top roots if you like and add a little more serum or cream to your ends to rehydrate! If you’d like to touch up your curls, just try not to pull on your hair as you’re curling and don’t let the hot iron touch the bonds (or they’ll melt! 😆)⁣
